As the first veterinary conference of the calendar year, NAVC is where the most current medical and product advances are released first.

Nearly 16,000 people attended the NAVC Conference 2012, up nearly 13% over 2011. The organization set a new attendance record for veterinarians, with more than 6,245 in attendance. That's up more than 13% from the previous year. More technicians also attended the conference: 1,461 compared to 1,365 in 2011. That's a 7% percent increase.

Students saw the biggest jump in attendance: 905 students from veterinary and veterinary technician schools across the world attended the NAVC Conference 2012, up 20% from the previous year.

"Students say to me, 'It's not just a conference, it's a lifelong experience," outgoing NAVC President Dr. Laurel Kaddatz said.

More than 4,000 exhibitors also participated, setting up booths at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center and the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center.
