Day 2 - Tuesday, June 15th
Full day trip to Otavalo, a charming Indian village two hours north of Quito.
There is a wonderful market where you can buy amazing Indian crafts, weavings, jewelry, sweaters, pottery and much more. It is a world-famous market and is a great place to photograph and shop! (lunch is included). In the evening, we'll have a Welcome Dinner and Trip Overview with Doug and Carol. Overnight at Sebastian Hotel.
Days 3 through 9 - Wednesday to Tuesday, June 16th – 22nd
Visit the islands.
Transfer to the airport for our early morning flight to the Galapagos Islands (2 1/2 hour flight), located 600 miles west off the coast of Ecuador. We will board our first-class, deluxe 36 passenger yacht, Coral I and spend one week visiting the islands, making a landing each morning and each afternoon with many opportunities to snorkel. There will be a visit to the Darwin Station where we will see our first giant tortoises, and later we'll make a visit to the Highlands of Santa Cruz where we will see tortoises in the wild! A complete day by day Galapagos itinerary with a description of which islands we'll visit will be in the information packet sent to each participant before the trip.
Day 10 – Wednesday, June 23rd
Return to Quito, arriving mid to late afternoon.
We will have a farewell dinner at La Ronda, a charming local restaurant that serves typical food and has live Andean music. This restaurant is always a hit! Overnight at Sebastian Hotel.
